The Politics of The Republican Party

The Republican Party is often viewed as a divisive group of moderates and extreme right conservatives. The recently formed Tea Party has done little to improve this view. However, there is certain unity among members of the Republican Party concerning the future direction of the country.

Republicans believe the role government should be more limited. The government has massively increased the regulations that businesses and individuals must follow. This has created a level of uncertainty and possibly hindered employment. Smaller businesses are simply hesitant to hire new people with concern over new regulations. Of course Democratic representatives refute this notion stating regulations help “level the playing field” and create fairness.

Taxes are another key issue Republicans will bring to the platform this year. Despite modest support for increasing taxes on the wealthiest, it is also the rich that own the businesses that create more jobs. The contrary opinion is taxes must be raised to deal with the growing federal deficit. Republicans are certain to raise the incredible size of the tax code with over 80,000 pages as an issue. It would seem every representative has used the tax code to reward contributors both Republican and Democrat. More simplified tax laws would aid large and small businesses. It is one issue that both parties agree.

The Republicans are about big oil, dirty air and dirty water. They have a war on women. Does any educated voter believe this is true? The political position of the Republican Party is for federal government to reduce spending and get out of the way of future success.
